The N.F.L game this Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of the N.F.L.’s début of Janet Jackson’s right breast.
Justin Timberlake appeared as a surprise guest at the end of Jackson’s performance. The two were grinding their way through “Rock Your Body,” from Timberlake’s first solo album. At the very end of the number, in accordance with the lyric “I better have you naked at the end of this song,” Timberlake reached across Jackson, grabbed the edge of her Alexander McQueen bustier, and yanked. Out popped Jackson’s breast, adorned with an intriguing piece of nipple jewelry.
Jackson’s spokesperson, Stephen Huvane, told CNN that what had occurred was a “malfunction of the wardrobe.” And thus was born the phrase: "Wardrobe Malfunction".
